Incorporeal by Lauren Simmonds

Incorporeal is a sculptural performance work which features hand-cut and folded paper ‘costumes’. Performers are dressed in these wearable sculptures, moving throughout the space with presence, inspiring curiosity and intrigue within the audience. Each Incorporeal being references otherworldly bodies and zoomorphic forms.

The performers movements are subtle, calm and considered, like statues which come to life. It can work in a variety of existing sound and light conditions and is non-verbal.

At various points during the evening the performers come together to form a larger collective moving sculpture accenting the performance.

Lightweight and low-impact, the work is adaptable in colour and material to respond to the context of each event. The performance is most effective with minimum two performers and can expand in scale.
